Specialist Consultation

Dr Philpott is a private billing specialist. Consultations and associated tests attract a Medicare rebate. Department of Veterans’ Affairs (Gold Card Holders) are billed direct to DVA. For more detailed information on specialist fees, please ask the receptionist when booking your test or call 1300 570 700.

In-patient (Laboratory) Sleep Studies

Sleep WA accepts reimbursement provided by a patient’s Private Health Insurance Fund [assuming full hospital cover is held] plus Medicare as payment for an in-patient sleep study. Sleep WA will submit an in-patient sleep study account to your private health fund and depending on your level of cover, there may be a fee or ‘gap’ for the sleep study. A separate account for the overnight stay in hospital will be issued by the hospital where the sleep study is conducted. To determine if there is any fee or ‘gap’ for the overnight hospital stay, a patient must contact their health fund directly. The receptionists at Sleep WA are happy to provide additional information on fees once health insurance information has been obtained.

Outpatient Services (Including Respiratory Testing and Home Sleep Studies)

For Veterans’ Affairs Gold Card Holders, all fees are billed direct to DVA.
When making a booking, patients will be advised of the cost of the test(s) that their referring doctor has requested.
Outpatient testing services do require full payment of the account on the day of the test.

Referrals

In order to be eligible for a Medicare refund, a valid referral is required. Referrals from General Practitioners (GPs) are generally valid for 12 months, and those from specialists/physicians are generally valid for 3 months only. If a referral is not current, Medicare will pay only a small proportion of the Medicare rebate.
